Marmie and Papa's visit

For the last 2.5 weeks John's parents (Marmie and Papa) were here for a visit. We were very much looking forward to their visit and the change of pace that having visitors brings. The first two days after they arrived it was quite rainy, but thankfully we had planned a trip to sunny Rhodes, Greece for a week.  We missed a whole week of cool rainy weather in Switzerland and instead enjoyed warm and sunny weather!!

Elliott's first haircut

I was a little bit nervous about the flying as Elliott doesn't love to sit still, so thankful it was less than a 3 hour flight! Both him and Hannah did really well on the flights, especially after a 3:30 AM wake up call! Once we landed we drove to our holiday villa, about an hour south of the city of Rhodes, 25 minutes south of Lindos. It was a perfect house and it felt like a mansion compared to our apartment. The kids had a yard to play in and we could walk right out to the sea.

Some of the highlights of the trip were swimming in some of the nice coves, where the water was calm and the beaches were sandy. Both couples got to enjoy a guided bike ride, Johns parents a mountain bike ride through orange groves and up to a monastery, and us a 90km bike ride across the island. Our bike tour guide had also recommended a restaurant, up in the hills, close to where we were staying. He said it was one we definitely had to go to. This restaurant was a highlight of the trip. It had such a beautiful view and such yummy traditional food. All in all Rhodes was a great destination, especially after the rainy weather we had been having in Switzerland. Hannah also said upon leaving that she had lots of fun on vacation!

Thankfully upon returning to Switzerland the weather also improved. John and I both had to return to work, leaving Marmie and Papa to watch the kids for two days, but then we still got to enjoy a long weekend together. We were able to all go on a very nice bike ride, go on a few nice walks, and enjoy the lovely views in Luzern.
We were all sad to drop them off at the train station Monday morning, but we will look back on the trip as being a very good one, with lots of new memories made. Until next time we will have to settle for seeing them on FaceTime.
