Sometimes....

Sometimes you just need a treat, even though it is way overpriced, that you would normally have in your home country. When John and I saw this peanut butter cup ice cream we just had to splurge for it! To be honest I am quite surprised that this flavor is over here. First of all American brand ice cream is not common and most swiss people don't really like peanut butter. And not too many have even heard of the chocolate and peanut butter and ice cream combination.... Yes they are missing out! The ice cream definitely hit the spot!
We are excited to get a peanut butter delivery from my parents this Friday, as they arrive for their two week visit this week! We are excited to have our first of several visitors this year!

Moving day

Over the last few months we have been looking for a different apartment to move into. We wanted to live in a town a bit closer to the lake, we were between 2-3 miles away while living in Stans. We also wanted to ideally live in a multiple family house, (a house in which each floor is a different apartment) or at least a smaller apartment building/complex.
We were very close to signing a contract to live in a very nice family house in Beckenreid, but in the end decided it was a bit too much money and Beckenried is a bit further away from most things (see map above). After looking at several apartments, and being very sad about not being chosen to live in a lovely townhouse with a direct view of the lake and 3 small levels (we miss having two levels- not for space but there is just something about going upstairs to go to bed), we finally found an apartment in Buochs (see map above) . Several people from our church live in this town and we are a one minute walk from Lake Lucerne.
It is quite a lot of work to move and expensive, so thankfully we are feeling fairly at home in our new apartment. Plus we do have a garage, aka bike workshop for John :)
All of these photos are taking from the lakeshore that is now a 1 minute walk away!

Hannah 20 months

So I did good at having a monthly Hannah update for a few months :) Here we are now, and the little lady is 20 months!
You will notice a theme throughout the following photos, Hannah likes playing outside. We don't want to rub it in about how nice our winter was, bit it was great that we could easily go outside most of the winter.
Hannah has also been doing well at the daycare she goes to while I am working. She even has two Swiss German words! They always say she sleeps well, but she is always very tired after a day of playing and hearing another language.
She has started to be a bit pickier of an eater. Boo. It isn't terrible because she does like quite a list of things. But it is more a problem of the main dish, if it doesn't look the right way the. It takes quite an ordeal for her to try it!
Besides her two German words, Hannah's vocabulary has grown. Which is SO fun. We can tell she is getting close to the stage where she just tries copy things that we say.
Basically Hannah is still a happy camper, sleeping well still, loves hiking, going running with mom, family bike rides (which is good that she is sort of an observer and can sit for a long time watching things going on around her). She does have her tantrums, but so far they haven't been too bad and we feel we have used those moments as teaching moments.
Hope you enjoy the cute photos (yes, I am biased).
